Where My Mind Is

by Stacey

IMG_6277I have so much on my mind lately and usually this blog is the best place for me to write down and organize my thoughts but for right now, I seem to be spinning. I can’t wrap my head around a concise blog post.

My mind is busy with thoughts of…

The Writers Circle which I am happy to say is coming to life in Ridgewood. I am proud and excited and anxious about this new adventure.

The PARCC and the Common Core. My girls are taking the test this week although many of their friends are not. I can’t stop reading newspaper articles and following threads on Facebook about the flaws with this particular test. It is like education reality tv. I can’t look away.

Snow, sleet and rain. There is more coming tonight and then again on Thursday. Really? I am so tired of being cold.

House of Cards which is just as good as I remembered it.

My current fiction read, My Sunshine Away, which is a great distraction.

My current non-fiction read, Queen Bees and Wanna Bees. Need I say more?

Perhaps, I will be able to settle and write more soon. I hope so but until then, that’s what I’m thinking about. How about you?

While not in the exact place, obviously, I loved knowing that I’m not alone in thinking about Queen Bees and I loved your description of the PARCC (it will be given here in IL starting next week) as “education reality tv.” So very true. It’s the same feeling of hoping that something good comes out of it but feeling a sense of foreboding at the same time, but you’re right, you can’t look away.

Shannan- I will be curious to hear what you have to say about the PARCC. I have been nervous to write too much about because it is contentious here but I might just have to. I have so many feelings about it. And have you read Queen Bees yet? It was really a useful read for me. My tween even read certain parts…

Love hearing what you’re thinking about. I’m feeling sort of crazed with how much I want to read and write and how little time there is. Arg!!

When the weather and testing woes have you down, just keep plugging away with Frank and Claire. I think we’re on episode 7 or 8 now.

    I recent read

I recent read Queen Bees…ugh! Not looking forward to the next phase. Can’t wait to hear what you think.

I shudder to think about the common core. I know nothing about it. And I’m so tired of being cold. I almost cry when I get out of the shower. Although the extended forecast at least shows many days warmer than today was..
