What I’m…

When I stopped by Lindsey’s lovely space today to read her ‘Things I Love Lately’ post, I was reminded that I haven’t written a similar post in ages so here goes…

What I’m…

Reading: I just finished The Girl on the Train. There will be way more to come on this one. It was so, so good! And now I’m reading Jennifer Niven’s All the Bright Places which is also super great.

Watching: I finished The Affair a few weeks ago and am now counting down the days till House of Cards comes back. In the meantime, I am watching a bit of Criminal Minds. It’s the perfect show to keep me on the treadmill just a little bit longer.

Listening: I have been listening to Amy Pohler’s, Yes, Please while running and in the car and it is hysterical. I often find myself laughing out loud and wishing I could have Amy over for dinner all the time. I think winter would be a lot more pleasant if we all had a comedian visit every so often.

Wearing: This is my least favorite time of year for a number of reasons. A big one is that I am so sick of wearing jeans and sweaters that I could scream. My fleece lined tights arrived the other day and I am finding that they really are warm enough to make wearing dresses totally bearable. I am so incredibly glad for the change.

Eating: Not much exciting. I am feeling pretty uninspired in the kitchen. I have sort of the same feeling about food as I do about clothes at this time of year. I’m just about over all the cozy, warm meals and ready for new food but anything grilled or salad-y just seems too cold.

How about you? Apparently I could use some inspiration!

Need to read Girl on the Train!!  And I hear you on clothing and food fatigue both … Ugh.

As I was writing this, I really almost stopped. Apparently, I am actually ‘in to’ nothing right now! Ugh- winter!!!

  2. Yep yep yep – totally sick of winter clothes.  I’m not normally a seasonal decorator except for christmas, but I like to put out a few Valentines-y things this time of year just to brighten up the place.  I need some new houseplants, too!

Maybe Valentine’s Day will get me out of my funk! This post made me realize that I really am feeling the winter blahs big time this year!

I second that about blah clothes and food. The stacked up snow days have resulted in endless days of leggings for me because my skin can’t take the denim at this point–so itchy/dry! I’m pretty much living in long sleeved Ts and fleece vests, unless I need to leave the house (read: more coverage with tunic/long sweaters). Some of our go-to meals lately have been tacos, oven baked salmon in a foil packet (our grill is buried under snow) with homemade french fries, grilled cheese and soup–basically anything easy at this point. But I’ll be honest: there’s been an uptick in takeout too for my husband and me (Indian, Thai…anything spicy/warm). Can’t wait for spring!

Our grill is buried too!!! It really can’t become warm soon enough. Not sure what my problem is but this winter is really getting me down!
