Last But Not Least: Take 2
by Stacey
Awhile back I wrote a post titled Last but Not Least. It was fun so I am doing it again.
Here goes…
The Last…
book I read: I just finished Still Alice by Lisa Genova which was recommended to me by the founder of Great New Books, Jennifer King. I always know I will enjoy a Jennifer recommendation and I did.
place I visited: A few weeks ago, Rob and I went to New Orleans.
TV show I watched: Friday Night Lights and True Detective. I could easily dissolve in to the couch and not come out until I had finished both series (especially Friday Night Lights) but I am fighting the good fight and watching only in small doses.
meal I prepared: We had pizza for dinner last night after a long afternoon of soccer and softball but if lunch counts, we had one of our typical lunches. Grilled cheese for Katherine, turkey and swiss cheese sandwiches for Rob and Caroline and egg salad and green salad for me.
person I called: My friend Nicky to chat about food, books and kids activities.
person on my camera: Katherine. We had a fun but busy weekend with soccer tryouts, soccer games and softball games and then the event that Katherine looks forward to all year. Her dance recital. We still don’t know where in the world Katherine’s dancing talent has come from but the child really does look more happy and confident on the stage than just about anywhere else.
thing I Googled: When Stacey London (from What Not to Wear) went grey. Caroline is totally obsessed with the show and was asking countless questions about Stacey.
You’re right, this is a fun post! So fun to see your daughter in her natural element. If she loves dance, you should watch So You Think You Can Dance together. If you haven’t seen it (they just started auditions last week so you’re not behind) it really does feature the most amazing young dancers, and she will learn about all different styles of dance.
She looks radiant — isn’t it always great when you see your child doing something they love and with confidence too? So great. I’m dying to know…when DID Stacey London go grey? I stopped coloring a couple of years ago and am starting to get one nice white streak in the front, though not quite like hers yet. She’s so beautiful I think, particularly for not covering it up!
I cannot believe that I haven’t ever seen an episode of Friday Night Lights. I KNOW I would love it. But now . . . just no time to catch up especially with a new season of Orange is the New Black waiting for me.
Wow!!! Katherine looks so beautiful and her costume is stunning.
This is so fun to read. And the photo is adorable! I haven’t watched Friday Night Lights either. But now that I live in the south I think I would like it. PS – thank you for the Me Before You recommendation. I listened to it on Audible on my walks and just loved it.
Pamela- So glad that you enjoyed Me Before You. I think I would have loved it on audio too. And you should definitely watch Friday Night Lights. My college roommate grew up in a Texas town very similar to the one in the show. As a “Yankee”, I really had a hard time wrapping my head around the stories she told. It is such a different culture. An amazing show- great story lines and acting.
That’s such a compliment, Stacey. Thank you. I feel the same about your book recs! I also started to worry about not remembering things while I read Still Alice — it’s a terrifying thing. But overall, the book is deeply insightful and life-affirming. Looking forward to hearing what you’re reading next! xo
Thanks Jennifer! I am still reading (and loving!) All the Light You Cannot See. It is such a busy time for us that I am reading it much more slowly than I wish I could.
