Twitterature: May 2014 Edition
It’s my favorite time of the month.Today is Twitterature Day, hosted by the lovely Anne at Modern Mrs. Darcy.
Astonish Me by Maggie Shipstead is an amazingly beautiful book. By a completely lucky coincidence, I am reviewing Astonish Me at Great New Books today so please hop on over there to read my review.
The Riverman by Aaron Stamer is my favorite new middle grade/young adult book. This book is billed as middle grade but I for one wouldn’t feel comfortable having my middle grader read this one. Part mystery, part fantasy, part realistic fiction and all great.
The Weight of Blood by Laura McHugh was a good book. I didn’t love it but had heard good things about it. I wonder if it suffered because I read at the same time as some other books I loved?
That cover of The Riverman is lovely! Might have to give that one a try over the summer at the beach! Always love your book reviews, Stacey.
I’d love to read “Astonish Me”!
The Riverview and Astonish Me are both getting put on my to-read list. It would be fun to indulge myself in the dance world since it’s so foreign to my life as a mom of boys 🙂
I devoured Astonish Me and am currently love Seatung Arrangements. Great review at Great New Books! I danced as a child and my mom used to take me into the city to see Suzanne Farrell and Peter Martin dance. I love how Astonish Me was based on George Balanchine and Barishnakov.
Oh, your review definitely makes me want to read Astonish Me! Putting it on my list now!
What was The Weight of Blood about? I think the author is local to me. I remember hearing that she was giving a talk about it at the local library…
