“October extinguished itself in a rush of howling winds and driving rain and November arrived, cold as frozen iron, with hard frosts every morning and icy drafts that bit at exposed hands and faces.”

-J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

When I looked for quotes about winter I didn’t want one about how pretty it is. I agree. It is pretty. But it is really, really cold. I have taken no pictures of the girls this week or of any of the prettiness outside. I am afraid my fingers will fall off if I take off my mitten so  the quote above seemed just about right. Biting hard frosts and icy drafts. That’s what I would have to say about winter right now…

It has been so cold, hasn’t it? And we have finally warmed up a bit today, and now a storm is brewing for tomorrow. Can’t win.

    Enjoy your weekend.

School released early here today because of more snow.  Yes, it was pretty, but still:  BOO.  I’ve had enough of it.  I think your Macbook and the stack of books is a great “winter” picture – it’s exactly how I’d like to spend these cold, cold days.

I fought the cold at J.K. Rowling’s place, actually. Well not hers, but I went to Universal Studios and the Harry Potter part, and I think she approves. It was magical.
And being home is magical too. Of course we missed the polar vortex so that helps!

  4. Only 4 more weeks until Spring 🙂 Hang in there. Here we’re counting down the final weeks of summer, although it’s still warm and we went for a swim at the beach yesterday….there’s a nip in the air at night and in the morning. I think our season is starting to change. 🙂

  5. After flirting with spring temps last week we are plunging right back into winter with snow several times this week and lots of cold air. I suspect my upcoming week will look very much like your picture and your description! Stay warm friend!

  6. Yep… brrr!  All the prettiness of winter is wasted if its so dang cold you can’t go outside to enjoy it!  More snow today…
