A Christmas Tree Photo Essay

by Stacey

This weekend was a first. We have never gotten a Christmas tree in November. In fact, I have always wondered why people would get a tree quite so early. This year, though, because of various commitments in the coming weeks, we chose our tree this weekend. And a great thing happened. We really weren’t in the Christmas spirit at all when we woke up on Saturday and by the time we fell asleep, it felt like Christmas had arrived.

I used to think that you had to be in the Christmas spirit to get your tree but it turns out that getting your tree can instead put you in the spirit.

Lovely! Can’t wait to get ours — we usually do it first week in December too, right near my husband’s birthday (12/5). I always like unwrapping the ornaments each year, remembering how they came to be in our collection over the years. My daughter loves that part too.

We got ours this weekend too, definitely adds to the Christmas spirit. Yours looks great!

Gorgeous tree, Stacey.  I love the “Leave Presents, Take My Sister” ornament.  My 8 year-old would SO say that about her brother 🙂  We put our tree up Wednesday, breaking our day-after-Thanksgiving tradition.  Getting the tree up, and the lights on really does kick start the Christmas spirit.

I love your pictures here! Us too, a rare thing for us to have had our tree up before December 1st.

  5. Your tree looks so pretty!  We have had an artificial tree for the past several years but it’s look pretty ragged, and I may surprise my husband and go for a real tree next year.  I hate dealing with the mess, watering it, etc., but oh the smell!  Sooo Christmasy.
