Maine: In Photos

by Stacey

Last week, I was without Wi-Fi.

Being without Wi-Fi and only intermittent connection on our phones for a week was tough (definitely a post for another day) but the trade off was completely worth it. My mother invited us to one of her most favorite places, Drakes Island in Maine. Before we left, people told us how much we would love Maine, how it was unlike any other place in the country and they were all right.

Below are some of the amazing things we saw and did.

The girls walked on a long, long jetty often by themselves, feeling proud each time they did it.

IMG_2955We ate lobster, which really does taste better in Maine.

IMG_3030We explored the quaint town of Kennebunkport.

IMG_3032We visited President and Mrs. Bush at their summer home.

IMG_3040Both of the girls read at the beach for the first time in the history of our little family. Serenity has arrived…

IMG_3072The low tides were gorgeous.

IMG_3180We took an amazing walk along The Marginal Way.

IMG_3148We played lots of double, triple, quadruple and even five way solitaire. Did I mention we didn’t have a television either? IMG_3076And most importantly, against the gorgeous backdrop that is Maine, we spent time with our family.

Thanks Mom for a great vacation!

Talk about jealous! What a wonderful place to get away from it all…and these pictures tell quite a story. No Wi-fi is a gift of life…

It looks like a wonderful trip.  Gorgeous photos.  Sometimes it’s a blessing and a curse to be unwired, but often more of a blessing.  Does your mom spend every summer in Maine?  My parents just got back from 15 days on an Alaskan cruise.  I may be almost 40, but I missed them while they were gone!!
