A Big Life
by Stacey
Every so often I dabble into the world of scrapbooking blogs. The downside of this is that I feel like a huge slacker whose children will have no recollection of their childhoods because I have done so little, by comparison, to document these childhoods. The upside is that I find all sorts of creative women who provide tons and tons of great writing prompts. So much of what these women do in pictures, I can do in words.
This September, for example, I am participating in 30 Days of Lists. Many of the other women in this challenge are creating gorgeous scrapbook pages each day. I am creating lists.
And the super fun part is that Caroline is doing it with me. She was reading over my shoulder one day and asked what I was doing and them promptly asked if she could do it too. She has enjoyed some of the prompts and then chosen her own on the days that the lists don’t really ‘do it for her.’
Today, she chose her own list… “List all the jobs you might like to try someday.”
Caroline was unsure if I would be able to do this with her because to quote my tween, “I am old.” But I surprised her and truthfully myself, when I came up with this relatively long list…
- Waitress (this I would only want to do for a day and only because I think I might be the only person in the world who has never waited a table).
- Book Reviewer
- Independent Book Store Owner
- Photographer
- Author
- Talk show host
- Nutritionist
- Personal Shopper
Not bad for an old lady like me…
Stacey, we are the only 2 people in the world who have never waited a table. I’ve always thought we have a lot in common!
So funny Sandy! I hope you all had a great first day! Happy New Year!
Make that 3 of us!! My mom waited tables as a teen and forbid me and my sisters from ever toting a tray… : )
Oh that’s so funny! I bet she had great stories to tell!
I’ve never waited a table, either. I thought about doing the 30 Days of Lists, but decided to catch it next time around. I’ll get to experience some of it through you, it looks like.
I love this list. And, independent book store owner – wouldn’t that be the BEST?!
Shana- I have loved doing 30 Days of Lists with Caroline but am a bit intimidated by the group- I am not a scrapbooker so all the pages that the members are creating are a bit overwhelming!
Fun! I love lists; I should join. I did wait tables, and honestly, it was one of my favorite jobs.
Waitressing sure seems to be a love it or hate it kind of thing! Thanks so much for stopping by…
ha ha I’ve never waited tables either! Not sure I’d want to. I am really not a fan of lists as a whole but loved your post all the same 😉
I never really wanted to wait tables either but always felt a bit out of the conversations about it 🙂
I love your list! I haven’t waited tables at all (way too klutzy) but I did used to sell second hand books for a living. Honestly? Not all that. It does sound good though ;o)
Kate- you are so right. I am way too klutzy too!
I’ve never waited tables but was a barmaid. Only difference is I had to watch a lot more football matches, and never got tips! I love a good list, and especially like your independent bookshop owner aspirations. I’m always spotting shop fronts that would be *just perfect* for that!
Oh goodness! I really don’t think I ever could have been a barmaid- much too stressful I would think!
Ok so there are quite a few of us who have never waited on tables (does wiping down tables in MacDonalds count ?)
My list of dream jobs includes: Eskimo, Astronaut, Skiing champion, Inventor and (of course) Polar Bear. Not that I’ve given it much thought…
