Twitterature: August 2014 Edition
by Stacey
It’s my favorite time of the month. Twitterature, hosted by the lovely Anne at Modern Mrs. Darcy. Below are short, Twitter-style reviews of books I have read this past month.
Euphoria by Lily King. Euphoria is my favorite read of the summer. If you enjoyed State of Wonder, there are similarities. I enjoyed this one so much that I am now anxious to read Lily King’s others.
The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski. This is the first time I have disagreed with Sally, my favorite children’s book seller and owner of the Curious Reader. She told me she wasn’t able to put down The Winner’s Curse. I was. Anyone else read this?
This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Trooper. I loved this book. Good story, funny and well written. This is a hard combo and Trooper did it. I recommended it to Nicky, my favorite reader friend and wasn’t at all surprised to learn that This is Where I Leave You is in her re-reading rotation.
The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty. The Husband’s Secret has been on my to-be-read pile for ages and I am so glad I finally got to it. It was the perfect beach read and even more fun because the husband’s secret was not at all what I had expected it to be.
Missing You by Harlan Coben. I always read Harlan Coben’s latest so I was anxious to read Missing You. This was definitely not my favorite but still a fun beach read.
Always love your reviews and will add Euphoria to my reading list!
I think you will love Euphoria. Can’t wait to hear what you think!
Thanks for the reviews. Only one I have read is The Husband’s Secret and yes it was a fun read. Moriarty has a new one out that I also want to read. The cover of Euphoria is gorgeous.
The new Moriarty is so funny- I am reading it right now. If you have elementary aged children, it is a must read!
I LOVED This is Where I Leave You. Cannot wait for the movie. Tina Fey!
Tina Fey? I didn’t realize that! It’s going to be so funny!
Thanks for the great rec’s, Stacey. I’ve had my eye on one of them for a bit, and the one that you and Nina like sounds really good too.
that must have been a good friend who recommended “the husband’s secret!” 🙂 glad you liked it as much as i did. i’ll have to check out “euphoria”!
