Right Now

Traveling to…
Last week we spent part of the girl’s February break in Richmond, VA visiting with old friends. It was great to see so many people, visit favorite places and see grass and ground not covered with snow. The picture above was taken outside of a cute shop there. We’ve had lots of melting here over the past few days but the mounds of snow are still enormous. With temperatures dropping again this week, I really don’t know when the snow will be gone for good. The girls are Rob and outside playing basketball in the driveway right now after digging the hoop out from piles of snow. It is so good to hear their voices and laugher outside- it has been a long time.
Reading
I am finally reading a good novel. It feels like it’s been a long time. I am almost done with The Snow Child and will write a review soon but for now, know that I am loving it.
Listening
I am listening to whatever radio station my car wants to play. While I adore my new car, it is my first car with a computerized dashboard and let’s just say, I am missing my simpler cars. The dashboard really has a mind of it’s own. It will go to the radio when I ask for the heat. It will start changing channels at will. Looks like a trip to the dealership is in my future.
Watching
Having just binge-watched Homeland and Scandal, I promised myself that I wouldn’t sacrifice other activities for House of Cards. I am trying but it is hard. While I still think it is my third favorite of the group, it is getting pretty good. I am only on season one so no spoilers!
Eating
Our grocery store has had Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares on sale for at least a month. I keep telling myself that I will stop buying them as soon as they stop being on sale. For now, I just don’t think it makes sense to pass up the sale. In case you find yourself in a similar predicament, I highly recommend the milk chocolate and caramel variety.
Drinking
A lot of tea. Tazo Tea’s Awake before noon and Zen after. With the weather so cold, it is the only way that I can feel warm during the day.
Wearing
I have found a new uniform that consists of skinny jeans, Gap’s Bowery long sleeve v-neck tees and a long cardigan. Comfy and simple to mix and match.
How about you? What are you up to right now?
I keep hearing that Season Two of House of Cards is phenomenal. I think once we make our way through Scandal, we’ll give it a try. I’ve been wearing leggings and simple long sleeve tees a lot this winter and thinking about how I can transition that to summer. I’m thinking capri-length leggings. Gap tees are my favorites. I also like H&M but I haven’t had them long enough to know if they hold up as well as Gap. I’m guessing they won’t. Have you ever tried Everlane? I’m thinking about ordering some of their basic short sleeve tees for summer.
I haven’t heard of Everlane but seeing as our taste seems so similar, I think I will go check it out right now!
I used to go into Ghirardelli Square just to get the free samples in SF. And Orlando, for that matter. No matter how many times you walk in, they either don’t recognize you or they don’t care. You get many squares! And the milk and caramel is my all time favorite. They had peanut butter for a bit but stopped releasing it.
And I have been begging my husband to watch Scandal with me. From the beginning! We’ve only seen one episode.
You must watch Scandal. My husband has been too busy with work to commit to a program so I have watched the whole darn thing by myself. I started only watching on the stair master at the gym but I must admit, it seeped in to my home life- it was just that good!
I was just laughing at myself the other day because, while your standard outfit used to be mine, for the last ten days or so I find any excuse to wear sweatpants or yoga pants. Three months into constant snow and cold, and I just don’t care anymore.
Argh, you shopping enabler! I do NOT need to be clicking over to the Gap website right now!!! I always get a major itch to go shopping at this time of year, but I’m really just SO SICK of my winter clothes and ready for a change. I need to bust out the spring clothes and see if there are a few colorful tops I can mix in to brighten things up a bit.
I love this post! Great idea. I’m about to start reading The Traitor’s Wife, and I’m listening to the audio book The Outsider (Jimmy Connors’ autobiography). I have been watching the Olympics, but looking forward to the return of The Good Wife, Dallas, Revenge and Parenthood. I’m still wearing my Uggs, although dreaming of spring fashions:)!
I’m going to have to check out those long-sleeve V-necks! I have only one pair of skinny jeans but I have had them in heavy rotation this winter. So, so comfortable. I just never seem to feel confident about what I’m wearing on top (am I covered enough?!), so maybe those will be a good solution. Always fun to get a glimpse of what others are up to–thanks for sharing!
So funny that you said that. I just found a pair of skinny jeans- also at the Gap- that I feel much better about. I do still wear long cardigans to cover the back but they seem ok with out covering the whole front which I feel a need to do in all other skinny jeans 🙂
Well, I had to come back to tell you that in about 7 hours a package will be arriving here. From the Gap. With skinny jeans AND a new top inside. Wonder how that happened…? 🙂
Ha! Let me know how they worked. I hope well!!
